Norm was born in the Bronx, New York. His upbringing made him aware early in life that he wanted to represent, protect, and fight for people who needed help. After completing military service in the Israeli Defense Forces and then receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from Pratt Institutes School of Architecture in Brooklyn, Norm pursued his life-long dream and entered New York Law School. When he graduated, Norm was fortunate to be hired by the Legal Aid Societies Criminal Defense Department in Manhattan. Norm quickly rose to a Senior Trial Attorney and a Trial Trainer. Four years as a Public Defender served as a valuable foundation for learning courtroom skills and understanding client’s needs. Norm’s talents were then put to use when he served as Trial Counsel for what was then a leading Personal Injury Firm in New York, specializing in medical malpractice and toxic torts. Norm is often called upon to try cases for other personal injury firms, and has tried approximately 50 cases before juries. He has received large verdicts and settlements, including those well over one million dollars. He has obtained acquittals on murder, assault, and drug cases, among others.
Norm is also an avid amateur boxer who still competes in the Masters Division of USA Boxing. He holds an FAA issued Airline Transport License and is an accomplished blues harmonica player. He believes that combining skills from the ring, his prior career of flying, and music, allows him to go “off code” of how many lawyers practice and abide by The Steiner Law Firm, PLLC, mantra of “keeping it real.”
